New 2012 Ford B-MAX Eqquiped with Sliding Doors - Easy Access Door System

The North American based automaker from Ford has launched a photo and some details of new production version of the B-Max. The new B-Max equipped with its sliding doors, and the fact that there is no door pillar. This van-like setup allows for a gaping 1.5-meter long ‘whole’. Stefan Lamm, exterior design director, Ford of Europe said : “Door systems like this have been a designer’s dream for many years, We have taken the concept from an idea on a designer’s sketch pad, to a stylish and versatile product on the showroom floor.”

Darren Palmer, Product Development Quality Director, Ford of Europe adds : “We engineered the body to keep all the benefits of the new door concept, while making the structure strong, stiff and light, creating a strong, stable body is great for handling. The B-MAX is just as stiff as the latest Fiesta, and will be just as fun to drive too.”

The rear doors of the Ford B-Max are sliding towards the rear end of the car and this helps passengers to enter or leave the model even in narrow spaces. The system is being known by Easy Access Door System  and the main part of it is B-pillar, which has been removed. The high resistant materials have been used instead of the classic B-pillars and this is offering five times more resistance without adding extra weight to the car. The front seatbelts have been integrated into the seats and the model gets a sporty touch. As a reminder, the new Ford B-Max will be manufactured at the company’s new facility in Craiova, Romania, and it’s expected to steal some of the customers from the competition, but it will also be aimed towards families with a limited budget currently looking for a second hand vehicle.
